Sonmoni Borah is an Indian Administrative Service Officer of 1999 batch belonging to Chhattisgarh cadre.[1] He is the Joint Secretary in the Department of Land Resources, Government of India.[2] He has earlier held charge of Secretary to the Governor of Chhattisgarh, with additional charge as the Secretary, Department of Labor & Parliamentary Affairs, for the state of Chhattisgarh.[3]

Borah is a native of Assam, India. He studied Public Administration for Master (EMPA) at Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, New York, USA in 2018-2019.[4]
Career[edit]
Borah is 1999 batch Chhattisgarh cadre officer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He served as District Magistrate and Collector, for districts of Surguja, Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham, Raipur and Bilaspur district in Chhattisgarh.[5] He was Secretary to Hon'ble Governor of Chhattisgarh (2019–20). He is also responsible for UDAAN for the Primitive Tribe Children, an initiative for free English-medium education in Chhattisgarh.[6]
