T.O. Souryal

Tarek Omar “T.O.” Souryal, MD is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine based in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Souryal attended medical school at the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio and performed his internship and residency in Dallas at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Hospital. He specialised in sports medicine during his fellowship at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.

Dr. Souryal was the Dallas Mavericks team doctor for 22 years and is a two-time President of the NBA Physicians Association.[1][2] In addition to his work with the NBA and the Mavericks, Dr. Souryal was head physician for FC Dallas, CHL’s Dallas Freeze and AFL’s Dallas Texans.[3] Dr. Souryal founded the Texas Sports Medicine Foundation to give free medical care to underprivileged amateur athletes.[4]

Dr. Souryal hosts Inside Sports Medicine on ESPN Radio's Dallas affiliate, KESN. The show has aired Saturday mornings, and later moving to Sunday mornings, in the Dallas-Fort Worth market since 2001.[5][3]
