The lunar project MC-6X is a research project of the International Charitable Organization "Foundation for the Development of Science, Culture, and Sports," Ukraine, the National Aviation University, and Associations Caritatives Internationales (ACI). FONDS DE SOUTIENS AU DÉVELOPPEMENT CULTUREL, ÉDUCATIVE ET SPORTIF, France, to create a prototype spacecraft MC-6X, which is designed to work on the surface of the moon.

Moonwalker MC-6X

The MC-6X is one of the small spacecraft, such as the Audi Lunar Quattro (Germany) and Hakuto (Japan), which were created as part of the Google Lunar X PRIZE program. The MC-6X lunar rover is made of plastics and alloys based on light metals. The total weight of the lunar rover is 5 kg, and the maximum speed is 14 km/h. Solar panels and lithium-ion batteries power six electric motors.

The MC-6X is the first lunar rover in the world to be equipped with an automatic rollover system, which turns the moonwalker on wheels in case of overturning on the roof during an accident and a system for cleaning solar panels from lunar regolith in case of pollution.

Dimensions of the lunar rover MC-6X: 56.52 cm - length; 34.79 cm - width; 22.44 cm - height.

The MC-6X lunar rover is designed to operate on the Moon in illuminated conditions for about 14.77 Earth days of daylight and has no radioisotope energy sources.

The prototype of the MC-6X lunar rover was presented to the general public on February 17, 2020, at the National Aviation University, Kyiv, Ukraine. At the same time, NAU and the International Charitable Organization signed an agreement on cooperation and partnership with the "Foundation for the Development of Science, Culture, and Sports."

The first stage of testing the prototype lunar rover MC-6X was conducted at NAU as part of the Presentation on July 16, 2020. During the test tests, the running qualities of the prototype of the MC-6X lunar rover, control systems, and video transmission data in the online mode were checked. The mechanism of movement of the moonwalker moving by means of stepper motors gives the chance of exact positioning of each wheel. A video camera is installed on board the prototype, controlled by a microcomputer.

Delivery of the MC-6X spacecraft to the lunar surface and the purpose of the project

Ukrainian scientists and inventors carry out the development of the MC-6X lunar rover with the participation of specialists from the Aerospace Institute of the National Aviation University of Ukraine. The flight is possible as a payload on the ULA (United Launch Alliance) Vulkan Centaur rocket and the landing module of the American company Astrobotic or the Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX company with the landing module Nova-C (Intuitive Machines) or Blue Moon (Blue Origin). Design work and production of MC-6X are carried out due to sponsors and funds of the international charitable organization "Foundation for Support of Science, Culture, and Sports."

International cooperation

In 2020, Associations Caritatives Internationales (ACI) joined the monthly MC-6X project. FUNDS DE SOUTIENS AU DÉVELOPPEMENT CULTUREL, ÉDUCATIVE ET SPORTIF, France, and the project became international.
