Vecteezy is an online marketplace where users can license stock photos, vector graphics, and stock footage directly from artists.[1][2][3] The platform uses a freemium model - users can access much of the content for free, but it is also possible to purchase subscriptions or credits which provide the user access to the entire content library and give them enhanced licensing capabilities among other benefits.[1][4]

Vecteezy's parent company, Eezy Inc., was founded in 2007 by Shawn Rubel [5] in Bowling Green, KY [6] with Vecteezy launching in May of that year. In an industry dominated by large, expensive services, Vecteezy set out to provide professional quality resources at approachable prices to the masses, from professional designers to hobbyists to small business owners.[1] It is used by millions around the world including multinationals such as Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Disney, and Google.

Awards and recognition stuff - G2, Product Hunt, etc

Vecteezy was named in Inc's 5,000 list recognizing the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America in 2021 and 2022.[7]

History[edit]

Vecteezy was launched in May 2007 by Rubel. Initially it was fully ad supported and a side hustle for Rubel to go along with Brusheezy. Both sites offered free content with royalty-free licensing - Brusheezy offered Photoshop brushes and PSDs while Vecteezy offered vector graphics.[8]

In 2009, Vecteezy's site traffic and revenue had grown to the point that Rubel decided to leave his full-time job as an affiliate manager at Camping World to focus on it exclusively.[9][10]

Big gap - fill in. when did subs launch, when did videos launch, what stats to throw up for 2023

In 2017, Vecteezy launched its contributor program.[11] Creators around the work could submit their content to be shown on Vecteezy then earn money based on the number of user downloads.

2020 was a big year for Vecteezy: the content library was expanded to include stock photography [12]; the site saw huge growth in sessions, subscribers, and contributors [13]; and it entered a referral partnership with Getty Images' iStock to show iStock Search API results to free users on Vecteezy.[2]

In 2023, Vecteezy entered a referral partnership with Shutterstock where Shutterstock Search API results are shown to free users on Vecteezy.[2][14]
