YMA4 is a South African hip hop recording duo originating from Mokopane, Limpopo formed in 2012 by Young Mahasi and A4.[1] They are known for their hit singles "B.F.F (Best Friends Forever)" and "Birthday Song" as well as their "B.F.F Is Ready" series mixtape albums. The duo release their music under their own music production imprint YMA4Music.
Musical Career[edit]
YMA4 was formed in 2012 at Mokopane, Limpopo by two long-time best friends, Young Mahasi and A4 when they discovered the passion of rap music during high school after Young Mahasi introduced A4 to hip hop music. The name "YMA4", is a combination of the first latters from their stage names. In 2017 they released their notable mixtape, B.F.F Is Ready[2] with hit singles such as "B.F.F (Best Friends Forever), Birthday Song and About Me" which was streamed more than 7 000 times on Audiobaby, making the duo The first hip hop artists from Bakenberg, Mokopane ever reached more than 7 000 streams on Audiobaby. Later that year, the duo had a meeting with Gallo Record, but they did not sign any deal with the label at that time. After they gained notability from the public and South African music industry, the duo released there second mixtape B.F.F Is Ready 2 on July 2018.[3]
B.F.F (Best Friends Forever)[edit]
B.F.F (Best Friends Forever) was announced multiple times after YMA4 released their promotional mixtapes, B.F.F Is Ready and B.F.F Is Ready 2. In 2017, they released F.S.R (limited version) as a promotional song for free download.[4] On October 01, 2018 the duo officially released "Don't Take My Life" as their lead single from their debut studio album "B.F.F (Best Friends Forever)".[5]
