Wiley is a influencer marketing executive, named by Talking Influence to its 2020 Influencer50[2] list of the top 50 professionals in the field, and cited as one of the top 16 women in marketing by Chief Marketer in its "Market Like A Mother 2022" awards.[3] She founded Sway Group in 2011 to establish a means for businesses to leverage individual social media influencers in their marketing programs.[4] Sway Group is now a full-service influencer marketing agency, and maintains a network of 30,000 authenticated content creators, known as The Sway.[5]

Career[edit]

Danielle Wiley created Sway Group in 2011 with two partners, both female, and states that one of her goals was to help women bloggers and content creators to gain access to business revenues at a fair commercial rate.[6] Today, Sway Group is run by Danielle Wiley with her partners Tiffany Romero and Francesca Banducci.[7] The company appeared on the Inc. 500 list of America's fastest-growing private companies in 2015, at number 446.[8]

In 2021, following the NCAA's decision to let college athletes monetize their name, image and likeness, Sway Group created studentathletesponsor.com as a means of contracting with student athlete influencers.[9]

Before founding Sway Group in 2011, Danielle Wiley was a Senior Vice President at Edelman Digital in Chicago.[10] In this role, she oversaw the client work and IP in the categories of community management, trend watching, insights, monitoring and influencer outreach. She touched the campaigns and day-to-day social strategy of a variety of large brands including Johnson & Johnson, Quaker, Bush's Beans, SC Johnson, Kraft Foods, Con Agra, True Value and Kimberly Clark.[11] Previously Wiley (who was named Danielle Altshuler before her marriage) worked in content strategy at agency Hanson, Inc. (Ohio),[12] and also was a food critic for the Ann Arbor News.[13]
