NYZ News is an Indian digital news platform based in Bangalore, Karnataka. It was founded by Rahul CB in 2014. Apart from Karnataka, it also has bureaus in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.[1]The core philosophy of NYZ News is that independent editorial and financial decision-making are essential for the survival and growth of strong journalism. This entails relying heavily on donations from readers and concerned individuals who have no other motivation than to support a venue for high-quality journalism.

History[edit]

On 07 Oct 2014, NYZ was started by Rahul CB and Siddharth Varadarajan who had funded the website. The Independent and Public Spirited Media Foundation[2] has provided NYZ News with funding as well.

Siddharth Varadarajan claims that the publication was created as a "platform for independent journalism",[3] and that its non-corporate structure and funding sources aim to free it from the "commercial and political pressures" that supposedly afflict mainstream Indian news outlets.[3][4]
