Biography of: Original B-Boy- Tony Fuji Lalande[edit]
Anthony F. Lalande, (born April 18, 1961) is an Original American B-Boy and a Hip Hop Historian. Known by his B-Boy name as Fuji or Fugi Fooge, Anthony was born and raised in the heart of the South Bronx, New York and started out as a self taught B-boy. He is very well known within the circle of the Original B-Boys of the 1970's era. Fuji was often seen at Kool Herc's jams where all of the major B-Boy and B-Girl players would attend and show forth their style and dancing skills in fine art of B-Boying. Some of the Original B-Boys and B-Girls who attended Kool Herc's Jams were, A1 B-Boy Clark Kent, The Legendary Twins, Trixie, Sasa, James Bond, Dancin Doug, Kurtis Blow Walker, Darlene AKA Dancin Doll, and Duesy. Fuji was also know to be with some members of Grand Master Flash’s crew, including Grand Master Flash, Mele Mel, Scorpio, Black Avery, Bumpy Face Melvin, Flippin Mike, Mean Gene and Theodore. Fuji joined The D-Squad with Mele Mel and Scorpio in the famous 23 Park in the South Bronx where Grand Master Flash DJ’D most of the time. Fuji also danced along with Cholly Rock, B-Herock, and Cedi Mo. Fuji attended other D-J’s jam sessions around the Bronx and would meet up with other B-Boy crews to dance and perform break moves on the floor giving birth to the deep subculture that many know today as Hip Hop. Fuji was notorious for quick B-Boying techniques, dancing only on his toes, spinning on the floor, and fancy footwork that was hard to beat. Fuji will share with anyone his passion for Hip Hop. His strong and solid foundation of his B-Boy experience has remained the pulse of his undying love for B-Boying and keeping Old School Hip Hop alive today. Fuji currently holds the seat of Chairperson of the B-Boy Committee at The Universal Hip Hop Museum that is to be erected in the Bronx, New York in the near future. Simply put, Fuji Fooge’s proud Hip Hop heritage causes him to proclaim proudly that, “ I AM HIP HOP”.

- Crotona Park " Old Timer's Day" : For decades, thousands of people have gathered in The Bronx at Crotona Park on the first Sunday of August to come together for cookouts, spend time with family and to catch up with old friends. This tradition allows people out to have a good time listening to music, dancing, eating, playing cards and so much more! Fuji coordinates the reuniting of the Original B-Boys and B-Girls at this event yearly.
- Olinville's Old Timer's Day Reunion: An annual celebration and gathering for all who are from uptown in the Bronx on 216th and Barnes Avenue. Hundreds gather to spend time with family and friends, enjoy good food, great celebrity entertainment and New York's very own DJ's spinning records. Fuji attends this reunion yearly with other B-Boys.
