A Very Merry Christmas Compilation is a tribute album that is released from the Mint 400 Records label. It is the label's second compilation album.
Content[edit]
On 13 November 2012, the label released the twelve-track A Very Merry Christmas Compilation which features original Christmas songs and covers by Mint 400 Records artists the One & Nines, Fairmont, The Ashes, Les Trois Chaud, and the Duke of Norfolk, and friends of the label Adam Nicholas Copeland and Reality Suite. A Pirate! press release bills the album as "a Christmas compilation that is sure to satisfy even the biggest Grinches." The concept began when Shane Vidaurri, of the Ashes, asked Neil Sabatino "why don't labels make Christmas albums anymore? We should make a compilation of original Christmas songs."[1][2]
Covers include soulful renditions of Brenda Lee's "I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus" and Ottis Redding's "Merry Christmas Baby," a surfy Ventures-esque version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and a spiritual, acoustic version of "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing." The Ashes contribute three original songs "Does the Mistletoe Know?," "Did You Hear? (Santa Got Arrested for Burglary)" and "Am I Too Old for Christmas," and the Duke of Norfolk contributes "Lovely Winter," Fairmont contributes "This Song is Your Xmas Gift," and Les Trois Chaud contributes "Sorry I'm Broke."[1] Stephen Carradini of Independent Clauses says "you can put it on the stereo and let the wildly varied emotions of the season wash over you."[2]
