His music has been released though his record label Villainous Records, along with their former parental agency group Chaos Music Group. His music has also be released through subsidiaries record labels such as Brand Name Records, Pyramid Records and Level Music Group. John Anthony has earned three commemorative gold records for his albums Words Are Weapons, Villaination! and Success Story, along with earning two commemorative gold records for his singles “My Life” and “Hustlin’”, which received a 2X gold record award from Spotify.

John Anthony released his first mixtape in October 2012 under the stage name “1 Dolla”. A year later, he would change his name to Exstazic and release two mixtapes in back to back years, Homecoming EP in July 2013 and Live Evil EP in June 2014. In 2016, he changed his name to John Anthony and would release his final mixtape, Double Standards EP, before scrapping all his previous mixtapes and restarting his career. In 2019, he founded his own record label, Villainous Records.

John Anthony originally released his first extended play, Four Forty Four EP, in March 2018, but was later scrapped and re-released exactly one year later in March 2019 under his newly founded label, Villainous Records. The EP would act as the first project released under the label and would feature the song, “Hell on Earth (Freestyle)”, which was a remix to the single “Hell On Earth” (1996) by Mobb Deep.

John Anthony went on to release his debut studio album, The Therapy LP, on October 30, 2019. The album included two lead singles: “Time Will Heal”, which features singer Breana Marin, and “Jump-In (Freestyle)”. Following the release of the album, John Anthony released the mixtape, Villainology, Vol. 1, in December 2019. Four months later in February 2020, The Therapy LP re-released as a deluxe version, featuring eight new songs.

He later released his first mixtape under his label, Ride or Die, in March 2020. The mixtape was written about and dedicated to his former girlfriend. John Anthony was set to release a sequel to the project in 2022, entitled Twin Flame, but was later scrapped.

His second studio album, The Bad Guy Chronicles, was released in June 2020 and debuted at number 293 on the Upcoming 100's US Emerging 300 chart. This would be the first John Anthony album to be charted. The album included the hit single: "Ballin", along with popular songs such as “Sharpening the Saw” and “Beef”. Two months later, John Anthony unexpectedly release his third studio album, Unexplored, which was released in August 2020. The album’s main single was “Feel This Way”, with more popular songs being: “33 Ways” and “The Bitch Song”. He later released his second extended play, Stereo EP, that same year in November. The EP celebrates the 35th anniversary of Radio (1985), the debut album of LL Cool J. He would then release his third mixtape, Villainology, Vol. 2, in December 2020 and included unreleased songs from The Bad Guy Chronicles and Unexplored.

John Anthony’s fourth studio album, Words Are Weapons, was released in April 2021 and debuted at 181 in the US Emerging 300, becoming his first album to reach within the top 200 of the Emerging 300 charts with over 10,000 music streams on Spotify it’s first two weeks, along with reaching number 34 on UK ReverbNation charts. The album hosted three singles: The title track, “That Boy Different”, and "Toxic". The album also received a commemorative gold record award for achieving 10,000 music streams its first two weeks. A deluxe version was released on the same day, featuring seven extra tracks. Four months later, John Anthony’s original fifth studio album, Project 4:44, was unexpectedly leaked a week before its surprise release, resulting in the album being scrapped days before its drop. He later would released his third mixtape, Villainology, Vol. 3, in December 2021.

His fifth studio album, Villaination!, was released in February 2022, to generally favorable reviews from music critics. It debuted at number 92 on the US Emerging 300 chart, which is the highest rank of any John Anthony album to date, along with reaching number 18 on UK ReverbNation Charts. The album featured hit singles: the track title, “Whole New Level”, “Look At My Life” (featuring J Mont), “One Love” and “Superhype”, with the latter single peaking over 22,000 music streams on Spotify. Five months later, John Anthony released the single "Hustlin'", which peaked at number 13 on the US Emerging 300 chart, number six on UK ReverbNation charts and number 23 on Upcoming 100's US Breakthrough 25 charts, along with earning 2x commemorative gold records for achieving over 100,000 music streams on Spotify.

Following the release of the album, John Anthony’s Discogs account publicly leaked an unreleased mixtape, Twin Flame — a sequel to his Ride or Die mixtape scheduled to release in late September, but was later removed. The mixtapes track list was revealed, showing remix features from artists such as Logic, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and more. He later would release the annual mixtape, Villainology, Vol. 4, in December 2022. The mixtape included remixes to 50 Cent, “Don’t Push Me”, and Destiny’s Child, “Jumpin’, Jumpin’”.

His sixth studio album, Success Story, was released in March 2023 and debuted at number 118 on the US Emerging 300 chart, making this the second album to reach inside the top 150 charts. The album included the singles “IDFWY” and “Montana”, with the latter single peaking in the top ten in Share Pro Indie Music charts. Seven months later, John Anthony released a collaborative studio album with fellow independent rapper J Mont titled, Heroes 2 Villains, in October 2023. The album reached number 66 on the US Emerging 300 charts after three weeks from its release and featured the singles “Scary Season” and “Give It To Ya”, with the latter peaking at number 133 on the US Shazam Top 200 charts and reaching over 22,000 music streams on Spotify. John Anthony later would release the mixtape, Villainology, Vol. 5 in December 2023. The singles from the mixtape included remixes to Eminem, “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”, Nas, “Meet Joe Black”, and 50 Cent, “Wanksta”.

In April 2024, John Anthony confirmed the release of his highly anticipated seventh studio album, Never Ending Story. The announcement was accompanied by the official artwork and track list. The album’s current lead single “Turn Loose”, peaked at number 34 on the US IndieTop charts.
