This is a timeline of the War in Donbass, from 1 November 2019. The timeline follows an ongoing conflict between Ukraine and anti-government pro-Russian separatists supported by Russian troops[1][2] in the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine.

1 November[edit]
According to the information provided by the spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters in the morning, pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 15 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (including on 7 occasions in Donetsk region (the eastern theatre) and on 8 occasions in Luhansk region (the northern theatre)).[3][4] One ceasefire violation was registered before dawn on 1 November (as of 06:00 am) — at Luhanske,[5][6][7] another violation was counted by 12:30 pm — near Novohnativka at around 10:30 am.[5][6][7] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence confirmed at noon that one Ukrainian servicemen was wounded in the Donbass region on the last day of October, another soldier was injured.[5][6] Pro-Russian officials at Donetsk city recorded 16 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in 14 locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, anti-tank guided missiles, armoured personnel carriers and armoured fighting vehicles.[8] In the same briefing, the authorities reported that Ukrainian forces opened fire on their positions 127 times over the past week using one anti-tank guided missile, a single tank round, 120 shells from 82 mm and 120 mm mortars and other 362 explosive rounds. The Ukrainian military attacked 32 settlements, where 17 civilian buildings and facilities were damaged. Two pro-Russian soldiers were killed in action and two civilians wounded on the same period.[9] Local officials confirmed that Ukrainian forces broke the ceasefire three times within the boundaries of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic. The Ukrainian military employed heavy machine guns, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars and BMP-1 armoured vehicles to engage pro-Russian forces at Sentianivka and Lohvynove.[10]
The spokeswoman of the press-centre of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) reported in the evening that pro-Russian military had opened fire on positions of Ukrainian troops on three more occasions by 06:00 pm.[11][12] By the end of the day total 13 ceasefire violations were registered, with no casualties reported by the Ukrainian side. In the eastern area of operations, Ukrainian positions at Starohnativka were hit by heavy machine gun fire, 73 mm anti-tank rounds and 120 mm mortar volleys. Vodiane and Novohnativka came under anti-tank rocket fire. Marinka was the target of 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Small arms fire was reported at Talakivka, Vodiane and Marinka. In the northern front, pro-Russian forces fired upon Ukrainian positions at Luhanske using small arms, heavy machine guns and anti-tank rocket launchers. Novoluhanske received fire from small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. Mayorsk (48°23′48″N 37°58′32″E / 48.39667°N 37.97556°E
[13]) was hit by anti-tank rocket fire, while Troitske was shelled with automatic grenade launchers, heavy machine gun fire was reported at Vilnyi.[14][15] A number of Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire were recorded by pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city. Ukrainian forces fired upon Staromykhailivka, Mineralne, Spartak and Trudivske, around Donetsk city, Mykhailivka, Dolomitne, Gagarin, and 6/7 mining complexes, in the area of Horlivka, and, in the region of Mariupol, Novolaspa, Pikuzy, Zaichenko and Uzhivka. Most incidents involved the use of infantry weapons, rocket-propelled grenades and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Spartak was hit by a 120 mm mortar barrage, while Mykhailivka and 6/7 mining complex were shelled with 82 mm mortars.[16]

The spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters reported in the morning, that pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 13 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (including on 7 occasions in the eastern and on 6 occasions in the northern theatre of action).[14][15] No ceasefire violations were recorded before dawn of 2 November (as of 06:00 am);[14][15] three ceasefire violations were counted by 12:30 pm — at Talakivka, Vodiane, and Novohryhorivka.[17] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence reported at noon no casualties in the Donbass region on the first day of November.[17] Pro-Russian officials at Donetsk city recorded 20 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in ten locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars and 120 mm mortars.[18] Pro-Russian sources from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic reported that Ukrainian forces broke the ceasefire three times within the boundaries of the republic. The Ukrainian military used small arms, anti-tank rocket launchers and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles to attack pro-Russian positions at Sanzharivka, Krasnyi Yar and Lohvynove.[19]

In the eastern front, 120 mm mortar volleys landed in Novohryhorivka; Ukrainian positions around Avdiivka received fire from infantry weapons, automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. Pro-Russian forces fired heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers at Vodiane. Talakivka was also shelled with automatic grenade launchers. Small arms fire was reported at Pavlopil. In the northern area of operations, Novoluhanske was the target of small arms, heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers. Luhanske was meanwhile fired upon with heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers. Novozvanivka was shelled with automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. Zaitseve received fire from small arms, automatic grenade launchers and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Pro-Russian forces targeted Shumy with small arms and automatic grenade launchers. Ukrainian troops at Vilnyi were harassed with small arms fire.[22][23] Pro-Russian sources at Donetsk city reported several Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire by evening. Yasynuvata, Spartak and Staromykhailivka, in the environs of Donetsk city, Izotove, Zaitseve, Holmivsky and Shyroka Balka, in the area of Horlivka, and, in the region of Mariupol, Petrivka, Bila Kamianka and Pikuzy, came under enemy fire. In the main incidents, Izotove and Yasynuvata came under the combined fire of 82 mm and 120 mm mortars. Bila Kamianka was hit by 120 mm mortar rounds. Spartak, Shyroka Balka, Zaitseve and Holmivsky were shelled with 82 mm mortars. BMP-2 armoured vehicles from Krasnohorivka launched a sustained attack on Ukrainian positions at Staromykhailivka.[24]

According to the information provided by the spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters in the morning, pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 15 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (including on 6 occasions in the eastern and on 9 occasions in the northern area of action);[22][23] the fire was returned on eight occasions.[25] No ceasefire violations were registered before dawn on 3 November (as of 06:00 am);[22][23] three ceasefire violations were counted by noon — at Novoluhanske, Vilnyi, and Luhanske.[25] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence confirmed at noon that two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in the Donbass region on 2 November.[25] Pro-Russian officials at Donetsk city recorded 13 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in ten locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars, armoured personnel carriers and armoured fighting vehicles.[26] Pro-Russian authorities from the self-styled Luhansk People's Republic said that Ukrainian forces broke the ceasefire two times within the republic boundaries. BMP-1 armoured vehicles engaged pro-Russian redoubts at Nyzhnie Lozove, while Sanzharivka came under anti-tank rocket fire.[27]
The press-centre of the JFO reported in the evening that pro-Russian military had targeted positions of Ukrainian troops on three more occasions by 06:00 pm — in the area of Zolote, at Vodiane, and for the second time at Luhanske — wounding one Ukrainian soldier in the process. In the eastern area of operations, Pisky and Pyschevyk were hit by heavy machine gun fire and anti-tank rockets. Vodiane received fire from different grenade-launcher systems. Ukrainian troops at Pavlopil were harassed with small arms and heavy machine gun fire. In the northern front, Novoluhanske and the area of Pivdenne became the target of infantry weapons, automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. Zaitseve was fired upon with small arms, automatic grenade launchers and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Pro-Russian forces attacked Luhanske with heavy machine guns and grenade launchers. Novozvanivka came under fire from heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers. Vilnyi was hit by small arms fire and anti-tank rockets. Heavy machine gun fire was reported at Zolote.[28][29] By the end of the day total 14 ceasefire violations were registered, with no further casualties reported by the Ukrainian side.[30][31] A series of Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire were recorded by pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city. Ukrainian forces fired upon Oleksandrivka, Trudivske, Volvo Center and Dokuchaievsk, around Donetsk city, Dolomitne and Gagarin mining complex, in the area of Horlivka, and, in the region of Mariupol, Azov, Kulikove and Pikuzy. In the main incidents, A tank from Pisky fired a single shot upon pro-Russian positions at Volvo Center, that also became the target of heavy machine guns, 82 mm mortars and ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns. BMP-2 armoured vehicles from Marinka launched a substantial attack on Oleksandrivka supported by infantry weapons. Dokuchaievsk and Dolomitne came under the combined fire of 82 mm and 120 mm mortars. Azov became the target of 82 mm mortars.[32]
Ukrainian forces witdrew from the area of Zolote, in accordance to the Minsk agreement on disengagement zones. A group of Ukrainian far-right militants gathered in Katerinivka, within the established safety area, to check the disengagement and "protect civilians."[33]
4 November[edit]
The spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters reported in the morning, that pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 14 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (including on 4 occasions in the eastern and on 10 occasions in the northern theatre of action).[30][31] One ceasefire violation was registered by morning of 4 November (as of 06:00 am) — at Novoluhanske, where grenade launchers, large calibre machine guns, and 82 mm mortars were employed;[30][31] two more violations were counted by 12:30 pm — at Krymske and at Pyschevyk.[34] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence confirmed at noon that one Ukrainian serviceman was wounded in the Donbass region on 3 November.[34] Pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city recorded 19 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in 12 locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, anti-aircraft guns, armoured personnel carriers, armoured fighting vehicles and tanks.[35] Officials from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic recorded five Ukrainian violations of the truce within the republic boundaries. The Ukrainian military used heavy machine guns, anti-tank rocket launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars and BMP-1 armoured vehicles to engage pro-Russian troops at Kalynove, Nyzhnie Lozove and Slovianoserbsk.[36]

Pro-Russian BMP-1 engaged pro-Russian positions at Vodiane supported by heavy machine guns and grenade launchers. Krasnohorivka and Marinka came under anti-tank rocket fire.. Small arms fire was reported at Starohnativka and Marinka. In the northern area of operations, Novotoshkivke was the target of small arms, heavy machine guns, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars and 122 mm self-propelled artillery. Novoluhanske was meanwhile fired upon with small arms, automatic grenade launchers, anti-tank rocket launchers, 82 mm mortars and 120 mm mortars. Heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers were fired at Zalizne and automatic grenade launchers at Novhorodske. Vilnyi was hit by 73 mm anti-tank rounds. Pro-Russian forces targeted Troitske with heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Ukrainian troops at Krymske were harassed with heavy machine gun fire [38][39] A number of Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire were recorded by pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city. Ukrainian forces fired upon Staromykhailivka, Yasynuvata, Vasilyevka and Trudivske, around Donetsk city, and, in the region of Mariupol, Novolaspa, Pikuzy, Sosnovske, Bila Kamianka, Kulikove, Nova Tavrya, Novoshyrokivske and Uzhivka. Most incidents involved the use of infantry weapons, rocket-propelled grenades and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Uzhivka was hit by the combined fire of 82 mm and 120 mm mortars, while Staromykhailivka and Pikuzy were shelled with 82 mm mortars.[40] In the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, a pro-Russian soldier was killed in action when BMP-1 armoured vehicles engaged pro-Russian positions at Donetskyi. Kalynove received fire from heavy machine guns and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles.[41]
5 November[edit]
According to the information provided by the spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters in the morning, pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 20 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (on 10 occasions both in the eastern and in the northern area of operations).[38][39] No ceasefire violations were recorded before dawn of 5 November (as of 06:00 am);[38][39] three ceasefire violations were registered by noon — at Vodiane, near Lebedynske, and at Starohnativka.[38] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence reported at noon no casualties in the Donbass region on 4 November.[42] Pro-Russian officials at Donetsk city recorded 23 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in 11 locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars and 120 mm mortars.[43] Authorities from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic recorded two Ukrainian violations of the truce using heavy machine guns, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles and BMP-1 armoured vehicles. A pro-Russian soldier was killed in action when BMP-1 armoured vehicles engaged pro-Russian positions at Donetskyi. Kalynove received fire from heavy machine guns and 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles.[44]
The press-centre of the JFO reported in the evening no further ceasefire violations by pro-Russian military by 06:00 pm.[45] By the end of day total 7 ceasefire violations were registered, no casualties were reported by the Ukrainian side. In the eastern area of operations, Ukrainian positions around Vodiane were hit by small arms fire, anti-tank rockets and 120 mm mortar volleys. Ukrainian troops at Starohnativka were harassed with heavy machine gun fire. Small arms and heavy machine gun fire was also reported at Lebedynske. In the northern front, Ukrainian positions at Vilnyi received fire from 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Pro-Russian forces fired on Luhanske with heavy machine guns and automatic genade launchers. Orikhove was meanwhile fired at from small arms, automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers.[46][47] A series of Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire were recorded by pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city. Ukrainian forces fired upon Vasilyevka, Trudivske and Volvo Center, around Donetsk city, Holmivsky and Gagarin mining complex, in the area of Horlivka, and, in the region of Mariupol, Uzhivka, Novoselivka, Sakhanka and Pikuzy. In the main incidents, pro-Russian forces from Novohryhorivka launched an anti-tank guided missile at Novoselivka. Pikuzy was pounded by 122 mm self-propelled artillery. Uzhivka, Pikuzy, Holmivsky and Sakhanka were hit by 120 mm mortar barrages. Volvo Center and Uzhivka received fire from 82 mm mortars. BMP-1 armoured vehicles from Zaitseve attacked pro-Russian positions at Holmivsky. BMP-1 and BMP-2 armoured vehicles from Vodiane fired upon pro-Russian forces at Uzhivka.[48]
6 November[edit]
The spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters reported in the morning, that pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 7 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (including on 4 occasions in the eastern and on 3 occasions in the northern theatre of action).[46][47] By morning of 6 November (as of 06:00 am) one ceasefire violation was registered — at Krymske;[46][47] no further violations were counted by 12:30 pm.[49] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence reported at noon no casualties in the Donbass region on 5 November.[49] Pro-Russian officials at Donetsk city recorded 22 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in 13 locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, snipers, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars, armoured personnel carriers, armoured fighting vehicles and anti-tank guided missiles.[50] Pro-Russian authorities from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic reported no Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire on this date.[51]
According to the information provided by spokeswoman of the press-centre of the JFO in the evening, pro-Russian military had opened fire on positions of Ukrainian troops on four more occasions by 06:00 pm — at Travneve, near Zaitseve, at Vodiane, and near Pisky — four Ukrainian servicemen suffered shrapnel inflicted wounds as a result.[52] By the end of the day total 10 ceasefire violations were registered; no further casualties were reported by the Ukrainian side. In the eastern front, pro-Russian forces fired on Ukrainian positions at Vodiane with small arms, heavy machine guns and anti-tank rocket launchers. Taramchuk became the target of heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers. In the northern area of operations, BMP-1 armoured vehicles launched an attack on Novotoshkivske supported by small arms, automatic grenade launchers, anti-tank rocket launchers and 82 mm mortars. Ukrainian troops around Luhanske received fire from automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. Travneve was meanwhile the target of small arms, automatic grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. The separatists used heavy machine guns and different grenade-launcher systems to harass Ukrainian forces at Krymske. Zaitseve came under anti-tank rocket fire.[53][54] A series of Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire were recorded by pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city. Ukrainian forces fired upon Olenivka, Kashtanove, Kruta Balka, Trudivske, Volvo Center, Zhabicheve and Spartak, around Donetsk city, Dolomitne, Gagarin mining complex and 6/7 mining complex, in the area of Horlivka, and, in the region of Mariupol, Novolaspa, Nova Tavrya, Uzhivka and Pikuzy. In the main incidents, the Ukrainian army launched an intense attack on Volvo Center using small arms, heavy machine guns, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars and ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns. BMP-1 armoured vehicles from Taramchuk engaged pro-Russian positions at Olenivka. BMP-2 armoured vehicles from Kamianka launched a sustained attack on Kruta Balka. Dolomitne and Gagarin came under the 82 mm mortar fire. Zhabicheve and Uzhivka received fire from 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles. Nova Tavrya was hit by anti-tank rocket fire.[55]

According to the information provided by the spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters in the morning, pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 10 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (on 5 occasions both in the eastern and in the northern area of operations).[53][54] Two ceasefire violations were recorded before dawn of 7 November (as of 06:00 am) — near Vodiane and not far from Krymske;[53][54] no further violations were disclosed by the Ukrainian side by 12:30 pm.[56] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence confirmed at noon that four Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in the Donbass region on 6 November.[56] Pro-Russian officials at Donetsk city recorded 22 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in 15 locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars, armoured personnel carriers and armoured fighting vehicles.[57] Authorities from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic recorded one Ukrainian violation of the truce, when Lohvynove became the target of small arms, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles and 82 mm mortars.[58]

By the end of the day a total of 20 ceasefire violations were registered; no further casualties were reported by the Ukrainian side. In the eastern front, Ukrainian positions around Avdiivka were hit by heavy machine gun fire, automatically-launched grenades, anti-tank rockets and anti-tank guided missiles. Pro-Russian BMP-1 and BMP-2 armoured vehicles engaged pro-Russian positions outside Vodiane supported by small arms, grenade launchers and 82 mm mortars. Pisky and Hnutove came under anti-tank rocket fire. Opytne received fire from 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, and Krasnohorivka became the target of automatic grenade launchers. Small arms fire was reported at Pisky. In the northern area of operations, Novoluhanske came under the combined fire of heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 82 mm mortars and 120 mm mortars. Krymske was meanwhile fired upon with heavy machine guns and automatic grenade launchers. Vilnyi was the target of small arms, under-barrell grenade launchers and anti-tank rocket launchers. The surroundings of Pivdenne were hit by small arms fire, heavy machine gun fire and anti-tank rockets. Mayorsk was shelled with automatic grenade launchers.[62][63] Pro-Russian sources at Donetsk city reported several Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire by evening. Yasynuvata, Oleksandrivka, Spartak and Donetsk airport, in the environs of Donetsk city, 6/7 mining complex, Dolomitne and Mykhailivka, in the area of Horlivka, and, in the region of Mariupol, Uzhivka, Sakhanka, Petrivka, Ukrayinske and Pikuzy, came under enemy fire. In the main incidents, Uzhivka, Pikuzy, Mykhailivka, Dolomitne and 6/7 mining complex were hit by 120 mm mortar barrages; 82 mm mortar volleys also landed in Uzhivka, Dolomitne, Yasynuvata and Spartak. BMP-2 armoured fighting vehicles from Verkhnyotoretske and Marinka engaged Ukrainian positions at Mykhailivka and Trudivske.[64] A civilian residence was heavily damaged at Pikuzy, and a gas pipeline was hit at Trudivske.[65]
Ukrainian and pro-Russian forces began to witdraw from the disengagement area around Bohdanivka and Petrivka, in the region of Mariupol. The safety zone was established after an agreement between the warrying parties at Minsk.[66]
8 November[edit]
The spokesman of the Ukrainian operational headquarters reported in the morning, that pro-Russian troops had opened fire on 20 occasions on Ukrainian positions the previous day (on 10 occasions both in the eastern and in the northern theatre of action).[62][63] Two ceasefire violations were registered by 12:30 pm — automatic grenade launchers were employed near Luhanske at around 01:00 am, and different types of grenade launchers together with small arms were used to target Ukrainian positions at Zaitseve at around 11:00 am.[62][63][67] The spokesman of the Ministry of Defence confirmed at noon that one Ukrainian serviceman was killed and another four were wounded in the Donbass region on 7 November.[67] Pro-Russian authorities at Donetsk city recorded 21 Ukrainian violations of the ceasefire in 14 locations using small arms, heavy machine guns, automatic grenade launchers, 73 mm anti-tank recoilless rifles, 82 mm mortars, 120 mm mortars, armoured personnel carriers and armoured fighting vehicles.[65] Spokesman Eduard Basurin told the press that during the past week, Ukrainian forces launched 140 attacks on pro-Russian positions in 34 locations along the demarcation line. The Ukrainian military spent four 122 mm artillery rounds, one anti-tank guided missile, 606 shells from 82 mm and 120 mm mortars and 863 other explosive rounds.
