The Odessa People's Republic (Russian: Одесская Народная Республика) is a self-proclaimed state created on April 16, 2014 by a pro-Russian internet group[1] in Odessa region.[2][3] Members of the Odessa antimaidan protest group later swore that they made no such declaration, and leaders of the local movement said they found out about it through the media.[4] The OSCE later confirmed that the situation in Odessa remained calm.[5]
